Opening Day for the World Champions

They say Spring starts on or around March 21 of the calendar year, but in reality for many Americans the real first day of Spring is marked on opening day of Major League Baseball in the U.S. What makes this Spring even sweeter, which has been the case in 3 of the past 5 years, is that we get to welcome back our beloved San Francisco Giants as World Champions. There is a certain energy that radiates through the city when baseball returns for another year, and that energy is magnified x10 knowing that our team, the home team has been the dominant team in baseball for the last half decade.

Walking into the ballpark for the first game of the season, seeing the beautifully manicured and chalked field, smelling the aromas of your favorite guilty pleasures of ballpark faire, hearing the booming sounds blaring from the PA systems, brings back the instant nostalgia of childhood when the ball players where larger than life hero’s and the stadium was this magical world where they plied their superhuman powers.

What makes opening day even more special in San Francisco, besides raising another World Champion Banner, is that there is no better ballpark in America to watch a baseball game. Sure it doesn’t have the history of Wrigley Field or Fenway Park, but what it lacks in historical context, it makes up for in views (both of the field and of the bay), atmosphere and the caliber of the baseball played on the field.

In a perfect world every day would be opening day. And in an even more perfect world, the Giants will win another World Championship in 2015 so when Hotel VIA opens in Spring, 2016, we will be welcoming the fans of the four time World Champions!
