It’s no secret that San Francisco has struggled since the onset of Covid. This great, world class city has had more than its share of social, economic and public relations problems. But as we ring in this new year, we are enriched with great new beginnings for beautiful, exciting, quirky San Francisco.
We start 2025 with a brand-new Mayor. Our new Mayor is a generational San Franciscan who is raising his young children in the city he now governs. He knows the glory of San Francisco past and has the passion, knowledge, honesty and wherewithal to bring those days back. He’s shining a very bright light on this City by the Bay.
We have 3 beautiful new parks. In a city where every resident is famously only a 10-minute walk from a park, San Francisco created 3 more in 2024. India Basin Waterfront Park has transformed the site of an old ship building operation into a waterfront recreation area in a part of the city which has been historically underserved. The newly opened Bayfront Park lies between the Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors, and the Bay. The park offers new opportunities to access the water, creates many possibilities for group gatherings, and its various elements represent all that is great in San Francisco. China Basin Park uniquely features a sandy beach, complete with Adirondack chairs, located on the opposite side of McCovey Cove from Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants. Music, food and other community activations bring a real sense of San Francisco to this park.
The future is AI and San Francisco is where AI is happening. Yes, San Francisco is known as the “AI capital of the world” and every iteration of artificial intelligence is emerging and growing in San Francisco. The thinkers and creators are bringing big ideas and new life to San Francisco.
The list of what’s bringing greatness back to San Francisco is not complete without looking at what’s brought San Francisco out of its doldrums in the past. That would be the San Francisco Giants. And yes, this year’s Giants are very much a part of San Francisco’s return to greatness. Buster Posey – the same Buster Posey who caught the Giants to 3 World Series titles in 5 years – is now at the helm as President of Baseball Operations. We’ve got All Stars, Gold Glove winners and some very impressive pitching. And one of the great managers in baseball. The Giants are bringing San Francisco back.
