Rainy Days Are Here Again…

We’re finally getting rain! It’s been raining in California!! It’s even rained in Southern California. In fact, I was hiking in the Southern California desert last month and ended up hiking in the rain…in the desert! After four long years of a punishing drought that emptied our reservoirs, made our golf courses brown, forced us […] Read More

Happy New Year from Hotel VIA

Happy New Year everybody! Forgive me if this blog is a bit brief, after all we are officially on a six month countdown until we open San Francisco’s newest independent boutique hotel! Hotel VIA will be opening its doors across the street from AT&T Park in San Francisco’s South Beach neighborhood in June 2016, and between now and then there is much to be done. Read More

Gridlock in the City

With OracleWorld just having wrapped up at Moscone Convention Center and many other San Francisco venues last, week, one of the biggest of the city’s headaches was on full display…traffic. Getting around the City, particularly in the SoMa and Financial Districts, as a rule, is a nightmare but during conferences such as this one it is as excruciating as pulling a tooth without Novocain. Fleet Week in the City

Throughout the weekend all types of jets and planes can be seen flying high in the air around the city, and there is no shortage of sonic booms heard in every corner of the city. Down the Stretch

As the dog days of summer have a firm grip on us we know one thing is certain…our San Francisco Giants are grinding down and tightening things up in preparation for a long run into the Fall. Just as they seem to have done every year this decade, this is the Giants time to buckle down and focus intently on finishing strong down the stretch. This intense focus and level of play has led to 3 World Series Championship over the past 5 years. Read More

Outside Lands

Ok, I will freely admit that I have always been partial to the Outside Lands Music Festival, which is held every August in Golden Gate Park. I’ve gone to the festival every year since it started in 2008—you know, back before going to music festivals was the trendy thing to do—and I have never walked away thinking, “Gee, I really wish I wouldn’t have gone this year.” I’ve checked out some of the other music festivals over the past few years but in my opinion, Bonnaroo, Cochella and Lollapalooza combined don’t compare to Outside Lands. One California Drought Finally Ends

Congratulations to the 2014/15 Golden State Warriors who ended a 40 year title drought with their 6 game victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. After 4 decades of being the laughing stock of the league, or worse, being completely irrelevant, the Warriors did the unthinkable and won the NBA Championship! Read More

Construction Update

Artist’s renderings, endless blue prints and architectural drawings can give you a good idea of what your building is going to look like, but there’s nothing like digging into the ground and watching tons of steel and concrete start to give form to your project. And so it is with Hotel Via, soon to be San Francisco’s newest boutique hotel in the City’s hippest neighborhood. Read More
